Land of adventures - EVS and alternative ways to travel

In 2013 I also decided to visit my friend that was on long term volunteer project called EVS in Netherlands. This is amazing project that lets young people (less then 30) to go abroad for up to one year and do different types of projects. It is also covered by EU, but people from all countries can go (in theory) and the difference from work camps is that everything will be covered : your trip, visa, insurance, food, accommodation, pocket money, all! I personalty still didn't do this one but I will for sure. Also this one you can do only once so choose your project wisely. There is many databases that you can look for projects but this one is like official https://europa.eu/youth/volunteering_en and again you will need a sending organisation, on this web site you can also find a list of all sending organisations in every country.

Probably you are thinking why I'm talking about this EVS when I didn't do it. Well I thought it would be nice if I tell you about that one too. But this story is about something else, and that is cheap ways to travel in the Netherlands and amazing time I had there (i will not go into juicy details)
We did a small trip Rotterdam, Den Haag and Amsterdam. Good thing to know is that people there have some cards for discount in trains and with that card two more people can get the same discount, so we asked some people on the train station if we can travel with them and get cheap tickets. Or if you are more alternative you can hitchhike (even people on bicycles can give you a ride).  Also Netherlands have many squats where you can sleep, in Den Haag we did couchsurfing and in Amsterdam we were sleeping in abandoned hospital. Also if you want to stay there longer you can find a squat and live for free or some small money.
We were lucky to be in Amsterdam during the gay pride (or better LGBT) and this is amazing, if you have opportunity you should definitely go and be part of it, even if you are straight! The all city becomes a big party with music, confetti and boats on canals, and latter all the parties start.

I will not speak about other amazing things you can do in this wonderful country :) This experience was really important for me because I got to know different ways to be a tourist, with really little money and an open mind I had an adventure for remember.

You don't always have to organize your trip, book hostels, trains, plan where to go. Sometimes is better just to relax and go with the flow. Maybe you will have more fun on the flee market on an island then in Van Goghs museum, you never know what can happen when you have no plans and it gives more adventures spirit to your trip :D
